II Corinthians 3:18

And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. II Corinthians 3:18

Healing

Sometimes
Brokenness isn't as apparent as my son's arm.

He fell last week.
When the nurse ushered us into a room at the Orthopedic Surgeon, she began to ask my son how this happened.
My son did not spare the details of how he was sliding from one end of the zip line -
play equipment- to the other,
and instead of landing on his feet he landed on his hand.
She said that the zip line sounded like a fun thing to play on.

My son's reply was strait to the point,
"Yeah!  It is, until you do something like this!"

He will heal,
In time his bones will grow back together.
God, the author of all healing will bring healing to his arm.
How intricately He has created us to heal and grow.
Friday my son will get a hard cast to protect the arm.

I think though,
how many hurts are not so apparent as those of a broken bone.

Swollen and painful,
the heart is hidden much deeper,
the swelling much less apparent.

People don't escape this life without brokenness.
From sarcasm, to abandonment
From loss of loved ones to abuse
The world is not gentle
And we are fragile

Psalm 34

 15 The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous,
   and his ears are attentive to their cry;
16 but the face of the LORD is against those who do evil,
   to blot out their name from the earth.

 17 The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them;
   he delivers them from all their troubles.
18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted
   and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

 19 The righteous person may have many troubles,
   but the LORD delivers him from them all;
20 he protects all his bones,
   not one of them will be broken.

 21 Evil will slay the wicked;
   the foes of the righteous will be condemned.
22 The LORD will rescue his servants;
   no one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.

At times your heart may need a band-aid or a cold cloth
At others it may need a cast,
To protect it from getting bumped while it heals.

I pray you will allow Him to hold you in his hand.

Psalm 73

23 Yet I am always with you;
   you hold me by my right hand.
24 You guide me with your counsel,
   and afterward you will take me into glory.
25 Whom have I in heaven but you?
   And earth has nothing I desire besides you.
26 My flesh and my heart may fail,
   but God is the strength of my heart
   and my portion forever.

I pray He is your portion this day,
I pray He is also my portion this day.
And always.
