A baby's breath, soft and smooth under swaddling.
Tight curly hair and soft cheeks
contentment
Last week I held a child born with an addiction...
A picture perfect child,
Content, happy... and born addicted,
and thus- predisposed to be sensitive to addiction as life goes on...
Innocence, lost before birth...
Our culture fails to recognize that life begins before birth,
Yet, this child will be effected by choices made before it saw the light of day.
I think... "injustice" and a million other things...
And look down to see the child in swaddling clothes.
And think again... "blessing"
Each breath a blessing, each moment a gift.
Who will come into this child's life? I silently pray...
Who will allow themselves to be effected by this little life? I silently pray...
Children everywhere need a loving, caring parent. Many children go without basic necessities all over this world, and many children right in your area have no home or family to call their own. Consider how you might help a child in need today.
Can't think of a way to help? It could be a simple as this...
-Locally in the US thousands of children are in the foster care system at any time.
-Find out how to volunteer your time to local organisations involved in foster care and adoption.
-Compassion International helps children across the world with basic necessities and education.
-Pray for children, having no voice of their own who become enslaved, abused or neglected.
Matthew 25:37-45 (excerpt only here)
‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
