"Follow me mommy..."
The little voice cries out.
We gleefully run across the suspension bridge.
And the moments lingered on.
We played on the bridge,
back and forth,
finding joy in each other.
And I remember...
another who said, "follow me!"
Matthew 4:18-20
As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” At once they left their nets and followed him.
Can you imagine?
Running joyfully,
with glee,
Following...
If the suspension bridge were real,
leaving everything of your comfort zone...
Letting go of your white knuckled grip
Trusting Him to catch you if you fall...
To meet your every need,
Not depending on the things you know to be safe, but only joyfully running after him.
Thank you Lord,
for finding me when my feet fail to run,
when my heart fails to joyfully fly,
Thank you for gently encouraging me to "follow you",
And when my feet do run and my heart does fly,
Thank you for your loving arms that find me then.
